Personal Assistant

A relaxed, person-centred Personal Assistant role supporting a young woman in Doncaster to live independently. Starting with 12 regular hours a week, with her support planned to grow towards 24/7. Ideal for someone with brain injury or FND experience who’s confident, warm, good company, and a steady presence on the harder days.

01The package

We’re looking for a female Personal Assistant to support a lovely young woman living in Doncaster. She lives largely independently but experiences fatigue, dizziness, and mobility challenges, and benefits from a reassuring, familiar person alongside her on lower-energy days.

This isn’t heavy care work. It’s about being someone she trusts: easy to be around, confident enough to help her feel safe, and relaxed enough that support never feels clinical.

This role suits:

  • Someone wanting a few regular hours now, with the option to build up to full-time later
  • Anyone who values getting to know one person well and being part of a team from the start

Who she’s looking for

She’s told us she wants someone who’s:

  • Confident and grounded, so she feels safe and secure when things get difficult
  • Relaxed and good fun, someone she can genuinely enjoy spending time with
  • Experienced with brain injury, and ideally familiar with FND (functional neurological disorder) or dysautonomia, so they understand how symptoms can come and go
  • Respectful of her independence, taking her lead rather than taking over

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

What the role involves

  • Standby support when she’s tired, dizzy, or needs a steady presence nearby
  • Supporting safe mobility at home and out and about
  • Prompting meals, hydration and medication
  • Accompanying her to appointments, cafés, short trips and local activities
  • Calm reassurance during anxious or overwhelming moments
  • Helping keep home a calm, relaxed space

Schedule

Starting hours

  • 3 set days per week, 4 hours per day (12 hours per week)
  • Same days each week, agreed in advance
  • Daytime shifts

Where this is heading

Her support is planned to increase significantly over time, with the aim of moving to full 24/7 support. That means more hours, longer shifts, and in time day and night shifts as the package grows. We want to build a small, consistent team now who can grow with her, so joining at this stage puts you first in line for the additional hours as they come.
